Product Marking

Companies rely on IMSA product marking technologies to increase the value of manufactured goods by enhancing their appearance through product decoration – for example, marking a company logo directly onto the product surface to promote brand name recognition.  Makers of advertising specialty products and promotional gifts use direct product marking to add personalization to items such as pens, key chains, and smart phones.  IMSA product marking technologies can also be used to add human readable serialization and identification markings directly onto fabricated components and secondary packaging.

Direct Part Mark Identification

Direct Part Mark (DPM) identification is the process of marking a permanent 2D machine readable code such as data matrix directly onto the part surface. The information encoded in the 2D data matrix can then be captured by an automatic identification device such as a 2D bar code scanner, enabling business process applications within the manufacturing operation and extended supply chain.

Manufacturers across a range of industries such as oil & gas, aerospace, defense/military, automotive, electronics, medical device and surgical instruments, semiconductor, plastics, metalworking and fabrication have implemented DPM programs to enable unit level traceability of components over the full product lifecycle, from date of manufacture to date of asset disposal.
